While spending time with his immediate and extended family was his greatest joy, Jim was an accomplished hunter and fisherman. In his spare time, he annually grew an extraordinary vegetable garden and loved his porch where he watched birds and wild animals in Highbanks Metropolitan Park. He enjoyed many vacations on the island of Ocracoke in N.C. and joyfully drove miles on the beach to find isolated spots for ocean fishing. Since teen years, he always owned a comfortable and large sports truck, which came in handy for hosting elaborate tailgates at OSU football games.
