James Arthur Keaney Sr., age 55, a lifelong resident of Columbus/Worthington area, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at Riverside Hospital following a brief illness. A devoted family man, he is survived by his adored wife of nearly 36 years, Lynda Reed Keaney, whom he met in high school; four adult children: Amanda K. (Mitch) Sealock, Columbus; Jennifer E. Keaney, Columbus; Elizabeth (Craig Petty) Keaney, Powell; James A. (Emily) Keaney Jr., Delaware; and precious granddaughter Sophia E. Petty, nine months. He’s also survived by parents, William R. Keaney II and Sharon R. Keaney, Columbus; wife’s parents, Dr. Gerald B. Reed and Gerri M. Reed, Worthington Other survivors include two brothers and a sister: William R. (Sara) Keaney III, Powell; Robert E. Keaney, Columbus; Susan K. (Robert) Helber-Kruse, Columbus; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws Susan R. (Jim) Thompson, Columbus; Rick Reed, Sunbury; Karen R. (Rod) Ingram, Sunbury. Also surviving, eight nieces and nephews: Caroline K. (Brian) Graham, Charlotte, N.C.; Emily K. (Clint) Ramsiare, Virginia Beach, VA.; William R. (Christy) Keaney IV, Fairborn, OH; R. Edward Keaney, Ypsilanti, MI; Nicole E. Keaney, Maggie A. Keaney Devon L. Helber and Hannah M. Helber, all of Columbus, and four great-nieces and nephew, Lily and Vivian Graham and Landon and Addison Ramsiare. Additionally, survived by maternal aunt, Diana R. Gregory, Columbus; and paternal aunt, Eileen K. Grelo, Pittsburgh, PA., and numerous cousins. Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, M. Arthur Robinson and Anita Vrooman Robinson, Columbus, and paternal grandparents William R. Keaney I and Emily Campi Keaney, Pittsburgh, PA.; aunt, Janet K. Church, McKeesport, PA. Alumnus of the original Worthington High School and The Ohio State University, he is president of Dayton Precision Services, Dayton, OH, a company he helped found in 1992 and purchased in 2006. While spending time with his immediate and extended family was his greatest joy, Jim was an accomplished hunter and fisherman. In his spare time, he annually grew an extraordinary vegetable garden and loved his porch where he watched birds and wild animals in Highbanks Metropolitan Park. He enjoyed many vacations on the island of Ocracoke in N.C. and joyfully drove miles on the beach to find isolated spots for ocean fishing. Since teen years, he always owned a comfortable and large sports truck, which came in handy for hosting elaborate tailgates at OSU football games.
