Lakey, Laddin Shane Mr. Laddin Shane Lakey, age 58, passed on to his eternal reward on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Laddin was born May 16, 1964 in Forsyth County, NC to Edward Ray Lakey and the late Betty June Johnson Lakey. Laddin graduated from Worthington High School in Worthington, Ohio, attended West Virginia State College (where he was a member of the basketball team), received his bachelor's degree in education from Winston-Salem State University and went on to obtain his master's degree in history from Appalachian State University. Mr. Lakey taught history in both the Yadkin, Davie and Iredell County School system. He coached girls' varsity basketball at Forbush High School in Yadkin County. Laddin had a lifelong passion for history, sports and education and was, for many years, dedicated to his students and his family. Laddin was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Betty June Johnson Lakey of Boonville, NC. Laddin is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tina Lakey, of Elkin, NC and his precious children, Ambroze Laddin Lakey and Adan Marel Lakey, both of Boonville, NC, for whom his love was boundless, his father, Edward Ray Lakey, of Boonville, NC, his sister, Heather Britton (Randy) Hincher, of Boonville, NC, his nephew, Nathan Hinshaw, of Winston-Salem, NC his niece, Keelin McArthur, of Wilmington, NC, three uncles, Fred (Frankie) Lakey of Winston-Salem, NC, Harold (Janet) Lakey of Richmond, VA, and Nolan Brown of Boonville, NC, along with cousins, Dean (Jill) Lakey of VA, Amber (Mark) Radar of VA, Susie (David) Tickle of Winston-Salem, NC, Hope (Phillip) Hardy of Boonville, NC and Dean Tickle of Charlotte, NC.
