James (Jim) Alan Eader (73) of Worthington, Ohio crossed over to be with our Heavenly father on May 10, 2024. He was surrounded by family and made a peaceful transition. Jim was born on January 10, 1951 in Columbus, Ohio to Richard and Sarah Eader. He was a lifelong Worthington resident, graduating from Worthington High School in 1969. He met the love of his life in 1975 and started a family shortly after. Together they raised three daughters. As a family they loved to travel and had many wonderful adventures together, including a trip to a tiny town called Booger Hollow, population 7 countin’ one coon dog and a double decker outhouse. Jim loved to have family around and especially loved spending time with his 7 grandchildren. He loved taking them on camping trips and loved to fish with them. He also loved taking his whole family on trips to the beach, playing in the sand and waves like a kid himself. He always supported them in all of their activities and was the best grandpa ever. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start a professional house painting company, Eader Painting, that he owned for 40 years. His true passion was cooking and often dreamed of opening his own restaurant. But don’t ask for his recipes because the response would only be a pinch of this and a dash of that. Holidays will never be the same without his amazing cooking. Jim loved gardening and flowers. Every spring he planted a vegetable garden that he tended dutifully. He also loved flowers, especially tropical and exotic flowers. You can find pictures of flowers from every trip he took. Jim could be seen on a daily basis walking his dogs around the neighborhood. He loved all animals and even volunteered at a dog shelter several years ago. He had a knack for loving even the dogs labeled as aggressive. A yorkie named Chip came into the shelter and he would bite anyone who tried to touch him. Jim came in and tamed the beast and ended up adopting Chip and giving him his forever home. He was an avid sports lover. He spent many weekends enjoying his daughter Kim’s gymnastic meets. When his youngest daughter Beth wanted to play soccer, he was her coach, encouraging her to continue her soccer career through college. He was a huge OSU football fan, often getting tickets to take his son-in-law, James and his grandsons to the games. He loved to watch all his grandkids in their activities from band to motocross to horses to dance to gymnastics to theater. He always wished them good luck all the way until his last breath. He also loved going to concerts with his wife and family. From partying at a Jimmy Buffet concert to taking his granddaughters to a Garth Brooks concert, he just enjoyed good music. He took his daughter, Angie, to her first Beach Boys concert when she was 13 and he took his granddaughters, Madeline and Zoe to their first Garth Brooks concert when they were just little country music fans. Jim and his wife Mary shared the kind of love that fairy tales are made of. It's often said how lucky they both were to have someone who loved them so completely and unconditionally. Jim dedicated his life to taking care of her and his family, not out of obligation, but because that is the man he was. He was strong, proud and steady. He was the rock of his whole family. Throughout his illness, he was still only concerned that his family was taken care of. His last months were spent with his devoted wife by his side. She never left him and dotingly took care of him like he always took care of her. She sat tirelessly next to him, holding his hand and tending to his every need. He was an amazing husband and always worried more about Mary than himself. All the way to the end he made sure she was eating and being taken care of. He would often reach out for her just to hold her in his arms and comfort her. We know he will be waiting for her in Heaven and watching over her until he can hold her again. There waiting for him to cross over and take him home were his parents Richard and Sarah Eader, sisters Melanie Dreisbach and Valerie Mitchell, brother Mark Eader, father-in-law Leon Suber, mother-in-law Shirley Suber, brothers in law Tom Suber, Raymond Suber and Paul Suber. He was also greeted at the gates by all his past dogs. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary, his three daughters; Angie (James) Nessler, Kim (Pat) White, and Beth Eader, as well as 7 grandchildren; Madeline Nessler, Jimmy Nessler, Mackenzie Cowell, Blake Cowell, Addison Cowell, Zoe Lawhead, and Emma Lawhead. He is also survived by brother Richard (Elaine) Eader; sisters Cindy (Don Whited) Voorhees and Lori Still; sisters-in-law Marcia Snell, Margie (Jeff) Musick, and Nancy Suber; brother-in-law Wayne (Karen) Suber; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his two beloved poodles, Anna and Elsa and dachshund, Lady.
