Robert Jay Lynam "Grandpa Bob", 99, of Sunbury, Ohio, died peacefully on Friday August 02, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Bob was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Roy and Helen (Cline) Lynam. Bob graduated from Worthington High School and attended the Columbus Art School, now CCAD. In October of 1947 Bob married the love of his life Ruth (Scheiderer). Together they spent 73 wonderful years and were best friends. In the earlier part of their married life, they operated Lynam's Saddle Shop in Columbus, Ohio where they worked together with his parents. Bob was a 70-year 32d degree Master Mason of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Freemasonry Valley of Columbus. Bob worked for Leukart Machine Shop and Midland Ross in Columbus, Ohio for 43 years. After retirement, Bob continued his leather handcrafting, carving and handmaking beautiful saddles. Bob was a talented artist which showed in the numerous pieces of artwork he made throughout the years. Bob spent many weekends with his wife grooming and showing ponies he raised on their farm, traveling to horse shows and working at equine craft shows. Together they were active in the Pony of Americas (POA) Club. Most of all, Bob enjoyed attending his grandchildren's many activities and Sunday dinners with family. Bob loved to tell stories from his childhood of caddying at Brookside Golf Course, fishing, and trick riding ponies with his brother who later was killed in WWII, which sparked his love of war books. Bob and Ruth built their horse farm "Double R Acres" in New Albany in 1973, where they resided together until Ruth's passing in 2021. Bob moved in with his daughter and son-in-law in Sunbury after Ruth's passing. In addition to his wife, Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Helen Lynam and brothers Richard, Roy and Tim. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Robert Jr. (Blanda) Lynam of Sunbury, daughter Judy (Don) Corbin of Sunbury, grandchildren Stacy (Frank) Leary of Dublin, Krista (Mark) Compton, Jody (Mike) Roberto of Galena, Jacy (Gary) Lawrence of Sunbury, Keyona (Chad) Greenwald of Dublin, great grandchildren Josh (Allison) Leary, Sara (Joseph) Dismuke, Meaghan Compton, Macy Roberto, Roy Roberto, Joleigh Lawrence, Lou Roberto, Jax Lawrence, Jude Lawrence, Jacob and Isaiah Greenwald, and four great-great grandchildren as well as close neighbors, friends and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Suncrest Hospice and a special thank you to Mike, Sarah B. and Katelyn for their kindness and support.
