Kelly Lee Wiseman, 63, of Worthington, passed away on September 16, 2024. She was born in Cincinnati to Sandra (Latham) Johnson and the late Jack William Johnson. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Raymond Johnson. Kelly’s spirit and soul were deeply connected with nature, she was a keeper to many animals, maintaining a small sanctuary in her backyard full of plants and feeders for all manner of wayward creatures. Her nightly visitors ranged from a series of whitetail bucks; Henry, Harrison, Hank, and Little H, all with their marked differences, a raccoon named ‘Mama’ who brought her new family around year after year, gently tapping Kelly’s leg or grabbing her finger if she needed some oatmeal cookies or some other sort of tasty treat. Opossums and skunks and all varieties of birds and squirrels spent their time in the reach of Kelly’s nurturing soul and peaceful spirit. She even tended to water bowls where the honeybees would drink around the patio. It didn’t matter who you were to Kelly, she welcomed you with open arms, especially if you were kind and cared for all the living beings around you, all the creatures that crossed your path and all the bugs that stumbled into your home. She understood making the wrong decision or nurturing the wrong habit didn’t define you, and she wasn’t quick to judge anything except senseless cruelty. Because of this, her sanctuary hosted many guests of the non-critter variety as well. Being a wizened shoulder to lean on for the friends of her youngest son Benjamin, offering them advice and compassion in times of family tension or relationship struggles, or even dealing with addiction. The weight of the world was lighter when spending time in the backyard with Kelly. She was loyal to a fault and wouldn’t stand for anything she saw as cruelty to the people she loved, and she would always point to all the areas in which you were strong and beautiful. Her passion for her job and the humor she brought in the workplace made for an enjoyable space for everyone to be themselves, enjoying competitive rivalries amongst fans of rival football teams and pulling pranks on each other by decorating one another’s workspaces with the opposite’s memorabilia. She brought so much joy to many people’s lives. Kelly will be greatly missed by her mother, Sandra, and children Jack, Bailey and Benjamin. She was a loving daughter and mother that always embraced spending time with her family. Playing games, watching football, enjoying nature, Monday lunches at Skyline/Roosters, listening to her “Yelp” reviews in real time and holiday traditions, were among the many things that brought joy to her life and those around her.
