HUNTER, Carolyn. age 97 of Fairfield, died Friday, February 17, 2023 at Westover Retirement community in Hamilton, Ohio. Carolyn was born in Wartburg, Tennessee on June 25, 1925, and graduated from Worthington High School in Columbus, Ohio. On February 14, 1944, in Montgomery, Alabama, she married Thomas Hunter, a pilot in World War II, who died in 2006. Carolyn was lovingly brought up in the Lutheran faith and locally was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamilton, volunteering wherever she saw a need. She shared and modeled her love of Christ with her family. Together she and Tom were married 62 years, deriving their greatest pleasure from their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Carolyn enjoyed traveling, visiting numerous friends and family. She was always caring for others and making new friends wherever she went, even in her later years. She held several positions within the Hamilton School System working at three of the schools. Survivors include her 5 children and their spouses: Thomas “Mike” (Debbie), Franklin TN; Christine “Kippy” (Garry) Gille, Fairfield, OH; Susan (Dan) Schulze, Towson, MD; Steve (Tina) Hunter, Franklin, TN; Michelle “Shelly” (Jimi) Castle, Winchester, KY.; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, a sister, Marilyn Baggett, and a brother, Ronald “Ron” Zumstein and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and her beloved granddaughter, Lynsey Michelle Hunter and great-grandson, Gabriel Joseph Gille.
