Mary Lynn K. Jacobson, 83, a beloved wife, cherished mother, dedicated educator, and compassionate volunteer, passed away on May 24, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. Mary Lynn was born on August 24, 1939, to the late Dr. Louis Kirkpatrick and Winnie Kirkpatrick in the city of Houston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Bray. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Duke University and would later attend The Ohio State University where she earned her Master's in education. Her teaching career spanned many years. Following college, Mary Lynn started her career in Alexandria, VA and would later teach for 17 years for Worthington High School where she taught English as a second language. Beyond her career, Mary Lynn was an active member of Linworth United Methodist Church, her faith was an integral part of her life, and she lived out her beliefs through service to others. Mary Lynn love to not only volunteer at the church but also volunteering at Riverside Methodist Hospital where she enjoyed passing out cookies to patients. She was also a devoted poll worker in the local elections. In addition to volunteering, Mary Lynn loved to travel. Her travels began at an early age while traveling as a military family while her father was in the Navy. She would later travel the world with her husband and enjoyed the culture and diversity of visiting countries around the world. Outside of traveling, Mary Lynn loved to read and was a member of numerous book clubs and was an avid gardener. She loved to watch the birds that would come to her gardens. During the warm months, she could be found visiting with neighbors and walking the neighborhood. Mary Lynn will be greatly missed by her husband of nearly 62 years, Robert Jacobson; children, Lauren Jacobson, David Jacobson, Mark Jacobson, and Andy (Karen) Jacobson; grandchildren, Benjamin and Fiona McConnell, Nathaniel and Samuel Jacobson, and Dexter and Vera Jacobson; and numerous extended family and close family friends.
