: James C. “Jim” Hatton, age 76 of Athens died Wednesday afternoon, June 14, 2023 at his home. Born Sept. 27, 1946 in Columbus, he was the son of the late Stoner Hatton and Helen “Pauline” Liston Hatton. A graduate of Worthington High School, he was a nuclear medicine technician with O’Bleness Memorial Hospital for 37 years. He was an outdoorsman, a licensed private airplane pilot, enjoyed his German Shepards and the Florida Keys, and had been a participant in the Boston Marathon. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Era veteran. Jim is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cindy Smith Hatton; his son and daughter in law, Todd and Dana Hatton of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Shaylene, Austin, Matthew and Sara; a sister, Helen Welch and her husband Bobby of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, John Murrey of Athens.
